The first steps towards planning and realising the Innovation Centre for Medical Technology and
Pharmaceuticals (IZMP) were taken on the initiative of the Free State of Bavaria, the city of Erlangen and
the local savings bank in Erlangen (Sparkasse).
Within the framework of the High-Tech Offensive programme in
Bavaria, the Free State of Bavaria has invested approximately 10 m euros in the Innovation Centre for Medical
Technology and Pharmaceuticals in Erlangen (IZMP).The money stemmed from the proceeds of privatisation.
The city of Erlangen is supporting the project and helped the financing of the project by providing the land
in Henkestraße. A further €750,000 was provided by the Sparkasse Erlangen in the form of a loan to the
Besitz- und Immobilienverwaltungsgesellschaft Innovationszentrum Medizintechnik und Pharma (BIVG – a holding
and property company).
The BIVG is a private company with the LfA as sole shareholder. FABIAN Immobilien Management Gesellschaft
generates business for the BIVG and thus takes on all the BIVG's task and responsibilities of running the
company and managing the project.
